As I write this, the family and I have completed the first week in Ventura, California.
Years ago, someone called Ventura a “blue-collar beach town” and that’s how I describe it. It’s not chic in the way that Santa Barbara can feel, and it’s not big, tourist-y, and popular in the way that San Diego is. It’s population is roughly 100,000 (according to the sign I remember seeing as we drove in), and it’s main street has a hip small-town vibe.
Since arriving, we’ve been to some of my favorite spots (e.g., Jolly Oyster) and tried new ones (e.g., Topper’s Pizza near Transmission Brewing).
