In June, I went to see Inception in the theater with two of my kids. We had seen it before, and we had even seen it in the theater before. But for me, it’s a film that’s worth seeing on the big screen, and this viewing in June didn’t disappoint or disprove its big-screen worthiness.
I respect the way the film is complex but never loses itself or me, the viewer, in its complexity. I get what’s going on, even if not perfectly.
That’s not true of Nolan’s film Tenet.
When I watch that film I feel lost or, better, overshadowed by a paradox or conundrum that I don’t grasp intuitively and that I don’t want to puzzle out.
But I still like that movie. Very much. In large part, I like it for Robert Pattinson’s performance and the humanity that it interjects into what could be lifeless science puzzle.
